Happy 100th Birthday Sir David Attenborough!🍰
In celebration of world renowned broadcaster, natural historian and conservationist (to name but a few!), we are celebrating his incredible life and legacy.
With our Eco Club, outdoor learning scheme `Outdoor Odyssey` and on-site bee hives our pupils are following in Sir David`s footsteps with their appreciation of the natural world. With original song `Thank You David` written by our very own Head of Prep Music, Mr Groom, we want to wish David a very happy birthday!🎉🌿

"The Chatterbox scheme aims to promote speech skills, vocabulary and an awareness of new concepts and ideas… our incredibly supportive parents enjoy looking at and discussing the contents of the Chatterbox with their child."⭐
After launching the Chatterbox initiative in 2016, our Kindergarteners have enjoyed receiving a mystery `Chatterbox` that they can take home and spend the week exploring with their families. The children love talking about what they can see, touch, smell and hear inside each box and ask many questions to satisfy their curiosity about the items.
This passion to talk about and explore new ideas encourages vocabulary and language skills primarily, but also develops a deeper understanding and awareness that learning is fun!⭐📖📦

Visit from Margot the dog 🐕🐶
Mr Earnshaw, Head of Fairfield Prep School, brought a very special guest to present star of the week to our Kindergarten children this week… Margot the dog🌟
The children were very excited to see how fast Margot could run across the playground, but we think Margot may have been just as excitable!

A glimpse into the animal world 🐢
From chinchillas to meerkats, snakes to tortoises, we were delighted to welcome a range of animal visitors to Fairfield last week. The children were very gentle and calm around the animals, showing great curiosity as they discovered their fur, shells and scales.
This fantastic learning experience taught the children patience and inquisitiveness, giving them a sense of appreciation for different species and their characteristics.

"I can teach the children about what I`ve been up to, and really that`s to try and inspire them to care, inspire them to be mindful about the environment and what is happening all across the world."🌱
#EarthDay is a fantastic way to get young people involved in learning all about the world around them. Fairfield`s Head of Geography and Sustainability Lead, Mrs Alves, has a background in conservation and regularly works with the children to educate them about different cultures, environments and ways in which they can lead more sustainable lives!
From sharing stories from her travels to engaging them in Fairfield`s Forest school, our pupils experience a rich and deeply personal environmental education. Our Forest School cultivates a deep appreciation for the natural world, fostering a sense of responsibility towards the environment and a holistic understanding of our planet.🌍⭐️

We`re delighted to share that we`ve recently been awarded `Best English Story` in the @interactiveschools #SchoolStoriesAwards26!

Year 3 enjoyed an exciting residential visit to Beaumanor Hall this week, where they took part in a range of activities to launch our new topic – Celts and Romans!
On Tuesday, the children developed their orienteering skills by following clues to uncover fascinating facts about Celtic life. They explored a replica roundhouse and enjoyed a variety of hands-on activities, helping them to better understand daily life in Celtic times. They also stepped into the role of Celtic warriors, practising key skills such as throwing and sparring with partners.
On Wednesday, after an exciting night staying in the cabins, the children took part in a series of team-building challenges, including a blindfolded obstacle course in the woods that required communication, trust and cooperation.
Across the two days, the children showed great responsibility, resilience and strong problem-solving skills, making the trip both enjoyable and rewarding.
