Our Kindergarten children have had a fantastic start to the year! From Forest School to outdoor play, painting to gardening, the wide range of activities for them to take part in are all designed to build confidence, key skills and develop social skills.
Our Year 3 pupils are having a great time in Miss Harrison`s Lego Club this term – they`ve been busy building everything from skyscrapers and aeroplanes, to castles and even staging car chases! The club meets every Thursday 16:00-17:00 and is a great opportunity for pupils to make new friends and unleash their creativity.
Our interactive Gym Tots sessions are designed especially for children from age 2 to 4 and aim to enable children to discover the joy of gymnastics through playful, age-appropriate activities that spark energy, confidence and curiosity. Your toddler will love jumping, running, climbing and exploring, while also building essential social skills alongside new friends. With you by their side, these sessions become a wonderful opportunity for shared smiles, laughter and connection. To find out more, visit: lborofairfield.org/care-wrapped-around-every-child/gym-tots/
In recognition of #antibullyingweek Fairfield pupils took part in an assembly where they learnt the importance of using their voice as a superpower to combat bullies! They were kindly joined by a handful of older pupils from the Grammar School who spoke to the children about the importance of looking out for their friends and peers as well as speaking up if they see anyone being targeted by bullies.
Through the newly introduced Geography curriculum at Fairfield, Head of Geography, Alex Alves has positioned a sense of curiosity at the very centre of pupils` learning. The sustainable development goals are deeply embedded, and it now has strong links to the local environment, involving more practical fieldwork which is rooted in real life experiences; children are encouraged to develop their thinking and problem-solving skills at every turn.
These tweaks have proved directly relevant to the global agenda as 2025 marks the 30th United Nations Conference of the Parties (COP 30). Covering areas such as energy, biodiversity, agriculture and social development, it is critical for young people to care about their environment and at Fairfield, we believe there is no better place for these roots to be developed than in (and beyond!) the classroom. #COP30

To mark the sacrifices of those who served, Fairfield came together this morning for a reflective Remembrance Service. Grandparents were invited to join the service as we heard readings, sang a hymn and observed the two minutes` silence. We will remember them.
Football is a popular sport at Fairfield and we`re recently witnessed our pupils achieve great things. In 2024, both our boys and girls U11 Football teams were crowned IAPS national finalists, highlighting their passion for the sport, their developed talent, technique and skill and the excellent coaching of our sports staff. Our sports curriculum is broad and balanced and focused on preparing children for a lifelong involvement in sport and physical activity. Netball, football and swimming all have comprehensive programmes that cater to all skill levels from beginners to committed junior athletes. We provide coaching, training and match opportunities that allow natural talent to develop and establish a solid foundation for future growth.
This week, our Year 2 pupils enjoyed a trip to Beaumanor Hall to experience what life was like for children in Victorian times. From school lessons with a strict Victorian teacher to doing chores such as ironing and washing, they all had a brilliant time.
