Your child’s wellbeing matters to us as much as it does to you and we believe that a child’s happiness directly impacts on their academic, pastoral and co-curricular education.

Only if they are content and confident will they make the most of the doors that are opened for them; successful education starts with a partnership between the school, pupils and parents.

Communication is key in ensuring a great partnership between you as a parent and us as a school and we are committed to fostering this positive connection.

Pastoral care takes many forms, our dedicated staff members take their roles seriously, prioritising the needs of every pupil in all that they do. Whether it’s a teacher building a one-to-one relationship, our qualified school counsellor providing support, or our school nurse attending to health concerns, we are here to nurture your child in a caring environment. Our dedicated staff take their pastoral roles very seriously and put the needs of every pupil first in all that they do.

In today’s fast paced world, the importance of mental health and wellbeing cannot be overstated, especially among young individuals and we aim to help them develop the strategies they will need to navigate in our modern society.  At Fairfield School we place significant emphasis on nurturing the mental health and wellbeing of all pupils and supporting their development via our Life Skills curriculum.

Several of our staff members are trained in children and young people’s mental health, including our qualified school counsellor, who is available to children when necessary. This ensures that every pupil has access to the support they may need as they navigate their school life.

Your child’s class teacher will know them best, and they will be your first point of contact either in person, by phone or by email. They will also keep in touch with you at regular intervals and are often informally available for a quick word at the beginning or end of the school day.

Science at Fairfield

I have always felt that science is one of the most exciting subjects you can study. It is all about the world around us, so it doesn’t feel like learning something abstract; it feels like learning to make sense of everyday life, and I love sharing that with the children.   Hearing their early misconceptions is always fascinating …
