At Fairfield, we understand the importance of a great start which is why we focus on teaching children a broad, balanced sports programme which is tailored to each individual. We are extremely passionate about preparing children for a lifelong involvement in sport and physical activity. This is coupled with creating a purposeful environment that allows every child to flourish and develop their confidence. We believe that children will not only be more confident movers when they leave, but also more conscientious and aware of their ability to have a positive impact on others.

Fixtures

The fixture lists are put in place by the Head of Department and are designed to be challenging to test and develop both teams and individuals. Fairfield Preparatory School is increasing the variety of co-curricular clubs and activities, and we hope that this in turn will increase the number of pupils across the school playing representative sport.

Our Sports Facilities

Popular Sports

Netball, football and swimming all have comprehensive programmes that cater to all skill levels from beginners to committed junior athletes. We provide coaching, training and match opportunities that allow natural talent to develop and establish a solid foundation for future growth. All our programmes encourage teamwork, skill development and personal growth. From Year 4 upwards, children have opportunities to participate in fixtures and festivals.

Triathlon

Fairfield Prep is the only school in the UK that offers Triathlon training for children from the age of 8 to 18. The Triathlon club aims to develop the skills used in the three disciplines of swimming, running and cycling, better preparing them for competing internationally.

Run by coach and competing athlete Chris Perham, the club enables pupils to train with elite British triathletes and coaches linked with British Triathlon Federation squad, who are based at Loughborough University.

The club members swim, cycle and run at locations around the campus throughout the year. The young athletes train to compete within the Tri series distances in their respective Schools ISA and IAPS school competitions and in the East Midlands BTF youth series in the summer term.

To date, Fairfield Prep and its sibling schools Loughborough Grammar School and Loughborough High have hosted their own Go Tri, with LGS alumni and GB triathlete Ben Dijkstra to present to award the competitors.

The future vision for the club is to provide a platform within the curriculum for interested athletes to develop their fitness and skills to lead into talented athletes training alongside the performance squad at Loughborough University. We are aiming to host local and national independent schools’ duathlon and triathlon competitions for children from the age of 8 – 18.

Science at Fairfield

I have always felt that science is one of the most exciting subjects you can study. It is all about the world around us, so it doesn’t feel like learning something abstract; it feels like learning to make sense of everyday life, and I love sharing that with the children.   Hearing their early misconceptions is always fascinating …
