Four outstanding athletes from Fairfield Prep School, representing the East Area, delivered stellar performances at the National Prep School Athletics Finals held at Alexander Stadium at the start of July.
Among over 1,000 competitors, Year 6 Loughborough pupils Rose Nugent, Mila Allen, Meagan Cheng, and Maud Widdowson left a strong impression in both the individual and relay events.
Rose Nugent, a rising U12 sprint talent, won her 100 m heat before finishing fourth in the final, earning the distinction of being the fourth fastest U12 girl across all Prep Schools in the country.
In the 4×100 m relay, Rose joined Mila, Meagan, and Maud to form a formidable team. Running in a highly competitive field of 24 teams, they placed fourth in their heat and ninth overall, a truly commendable result on the national stage.
Qualifying for the National Finals is no small feat. Athletes must win at local area meets to earn selection. Organised by Independent Schools Association (ISA) Sport, the National Finals at Alexander Stadium represent the pinnacle of Prep School athletics, gathering the country’s best in each age category.
“We are incredibly proud of Rose, Mila, Meagan, and Maud for their outstanding achievements in Birmingham,” said Mrs Jo Hackett, Director of Sport at Loughborough Schools Foundation. “To reach the final in the 100 m and have one of ours finish as the 4th fastest U12 girl in the country is extraordinary. Our relay quartet also did us proud by earning a top‑10 finish from 24 teams. Their dedication, teamwork, and passion truly reflect Fairfield Prep School’s commitment to excellence in sport.”
