Pupils secure strong wins across age categories

14 Fairfield Prep pupils recently attended a local triathlon competition hosted at The Elms school. For many pupils, this was their first ever competitive triathlon event as part of our Triathlon Club.

After training twice per week in the club, their hard work paid off as, between them, they took home 8 out of the 12 medals available at the competition. A particular highlight came from our U9 girls who secured a clean sweep of podium positions by coming in first, second and third. For first place winner, Alexandra, this was a particularly significant achievement having progressed from using floatation aids to help her swim when joining the club at the start of September to now securing a gold medal podium position.

The U11 girls achieved first and third place positions while the U11 boys took home a bronze medal. The U9 boys also won first and third place awards – reflecting strong performance across all members of the club.

Led by the Foundation’s Head of Swimming and Triathlon, Chris Perham, Loughborough Schools Foundation’s Triathlon Club supports pupils from Year 4 through to Sixth Form and offers a pathway for talented athletes in Year 10 and above to be invited into the Loughborough Triathlon Academy. The academy brings together promising athletes from across the Foundation and Loughborough College, creating a high-performance environment that includes video-analysis swim sessions, strength and conditioning training, access to elite coaching and nutritional support and more.
