This term has been great fun at FFD! Our pupils spent time learning new instruments, improving their reading with senior school pupils and getting stuck into a variety of clubs that cater to a range of interests such as science, crafts, Lego and Mandarin. The children also enjoyed time outside getting involved in football and hockey as well as taking the bikes for a spin! 🧪📖🎨
We cannot wait to welcome back our pupils in the new year as well as meeting new pupils at our Open Morning on 8 January 2026 – to find out more, follow the link to our website: https://lborofairfield.org/admissions/openmorning/

Our weekly Mandarin club is ran by an expert teacher from The Confucius Institute at De Monfort University and has been a fantastic co-curricular activity this term. Children in Years 5 and 6 build on their weekly classes of Mandarin and extend their knowledge of the language, as well as explore a rich and fascinating culture. With 1 in every 6 persons in the world speaking Mandarin, Mandarin is the most spoken language in the world, and China plays a vital role in the global economy. With our Mandarin club, our children can get a head start, paving the way for future opportunities.
To celebrate the festive season, a special treat has landed on a number of the fields around campus! Our wonderful groundskeeping team, with the help of Lionel Pitch-ie the tiny mobile robot, painted Santa`s jolly face on the FFD field!
Our Kindie pupils have had a fun-filled week getting involved in a variety of activities such as…
🎁Wrapping presents in the elf workshop
🎾Playing tennis
📩Walking to a post box to post a surprise they have made
👂Going on a sound walk
Loughborough Lightning player and LSF Netball Coach, Ella Clark, invited two fellow players to coach a netball training session at Fairfield last week. Shadine Van Der Merwe and Samantha Wallace-Joseph led a bespoke training session with the girls before answering a Q&A at the end, full of fantastic questions from our young players.

Every Wednesday after school Fairfield pupils, with the help of some LHS and LGS pupils, can enjoy a fun filled science club! Last week they experimented with making instant snow, DIY lava lamps and colourful water art with Skittles!

Congratulations go to all our pupils who took part in the General Knowledge Prep School quiz last week! A team comprised of pupils from Year 3 to Year 6 made it through the semi finals, where they finished with an incredible score of 1490 points! The semi finals saw 50 schools take part and we were proud to see our team made it into the top 50% – well done all!
Last years` Year 8 were challenged with a project to design and make a new school lunch, adhering to government guidelines for nutrition. The menu was judged by our own LSF chefs – taking into account the important factors of appeal and practicality of cooking, and serving, to a large amount of consumers in a short time.
The winners, Flo and Victoria, were chosen and they were able to share their fantastic meals with the rest of the school!🍽

Our Year 3 pupils had a great time visiting the @lborogrammar Quad and Tower last week! They got their very own VIP tour from the very top of the tower to the very depths of the cellar (along with a much needed cookies and juice break!). They learnt all about the history of the building and got to see photographs of the original interior from when the school was first built!
Our Year 3 pupils have been replying to their Spanish pen pals this week! They are learning about the many benefits of having a pen pal such as writing for a real purpose, learning first-hand about another country`s culture and developing their patience, especially as they are writing letters by hand and sending them across the Channel! Between the time our children write their letters, send them and wait to receive a letter back it could be weeks, so the whole process is a great way to aid the development of patience among younger children!
We cannot wait to hear their replies!
