The latest edition of our half-term highlights includes drama productions, instrumental showcases, an insightful engineering day and a chance to get creative!
Kindergarten trips
Early in the term, our Kindergarten children took a trip to Loughborough Grammar School’s Hodson Hall to watch the Year 2 rehearsal of their strings performance. Many of our Kindergarten children enjoyed the opportunity to watch their siblings rehearse and it was fantastic for them to see and hear our talented musicians in action!
More recently, Kindergarten have also visited the local art gallery in Loughborough Town Hall. Stops along the way included the Carillon Tower, the bandstand and watching some excavators at work before they saw a range of beautiful paintings in the art gallery.

Pupils in Year 5 and 6 enjoyed a fascinating engineering day led by seven industry professionals. They spent the day inventing solutions for real-world problems, with the engineers selecting the most creative inventions. All entries will be submitted to the “If you were an engineer, what would you do?” Competition.
Years 3 and 4 take to the stage
Children in Year 3 and 4 have been part of some fantastic drama productions this half term. Year 3 performed Dick King-Smith’s ‘Saddlebottom’ whilst Year 4 presented a production of ‘Peter Pan’. All our pupils ‘wowed’ the audience and worked brilliantly together as a team to put on each show.
Year 4 Instrumental Scheme showcase
It was brilliant to see our Year 4 pupils showcase the music they have learned through the Year 4 Instrumental Scheme, with the help of pupils from our neighbouring Senior Schools. The Year 4 Instrumental Scheme gives all Year 4 children the exciting opportunity to learn a brass, woodwind, or percussion instrument during their weekly 30-minute music lesson. Taught by a specialist music teacher, the programme encourages pupils to continue their musical journey into Year 5 and beyond.
Year 6 get creative during art week
In the last week of term, our Year 6 pupils enjoyed a fantastic art and crafts week! They were busy designing and crafting their own cars, making delicious pizzas, creating colourful tie-dye t-shirts, and exploring even more hands-on art projects. It was a highlight of this term’s calendar and an incredible week full of imagination and skill. Well done to all our Year 6 artists!
